Dan started out as an Astroworld Caricaturist in 1977 while studying painting at Sam Houston State University. He worked nine seasons at the park and eventually became the artist trainer.

Dan has passed himself off in the advertising business as everything from an illustrator to art director, graphic designer, project manager, creative director and eventually, partner. This last title was enough to make him quit his job in the ad biz and devote himself to caricature full time. He was so successful in advertising that he continued working at caricature jobs to make ends meet.

Nationally recognized, Dan has traveled extensively as a caricaturist for tradeshow entertainment.

Dan has received top honors for “Most Humorous Cartoons” and a Bronze and Silver “Nosey” award in the National Caricaturist of the Year competition. He served as Competition Chairman, Vice President and President of the National Caricaturist Network and is one of the founding members of the organization. He vows to never be president of anything ever again. To the relief of many.

Dan has written several children’s books and is in the process of finding a publisher. He also dabbles in painting and studio work. His portrait of the Columbia Astronauts, commissioned by FabEnCo, hangs at NASA. He also has his watercolor work hanging in the executive offices of Astroworld.

He is “Mr. fix it and enjoys puttering around the house, garden and garage most of all.

He created 3 cows for the Houston Cow Parade, benefiting Texas Children’s Hospital.

He is currently performing a new performance art show, “Paintjam” to rave reviews, (he paints Lady Liberty on a 7 foot canvas to a Jimi Hendrix style “Star Spangled Banner in two minutes. He also plays guitar.
